Goals

Hey everyone!  How’s the journey coming along?  Are you feeling motivated?  I know I sure am!  I woke up this morning and found that it actually felt like a beautiful, windy, fall day.  Now, here in the desert, we don’t really get a “fall season.”  It’s mostly just hot, hotter, and hottest.  So I jumped at the opportunity to start the day off right, especially since next week it’s supposed to be in the upper 90’s again.  I drank my morning cup of coffee and made my list of things to do and I took my dog on a nice long, brisk walk and we both enjoyed the breeze in our hair!

Lets talk about goals.  I am a little more than half way to where I want my final weight to be and I have finally decided that I want December to be the time that I have achieved my goal.  I want to have lost that final 30-35 pounds.  That’s ten pounds a month for me.  Your goal might be different but I think it is important to set a realistic “end of goal” date so that way you can have something to look forward to and also, it will help to map out monthly weight loss goals.  In my case, it helps me stay on track.

I have also been youtubing for different exercises to help tone and strengthen my muscles.  Here’s one that I found and tried out today for the abs.  It definitely made me feel the burn.  Try it out, tell me what you think.

I also found an interesting article about “no-sweat” ways to burn a few calories.  This article  is geared towards women but I think it could also work for the men out there too.

I know this journey is a hard one, but with strength and determination, you CAN and WILL succeed!

Motivation

Hey everyone!  How’s the journey coming so far?

I know, it’s been a while since my last post.  Which brings me to the topic of today’s post: Motivation and lack there of.  I understand that being motivated all the time isn’t going to happen.  Trust me, it happens to everyone.  I have been less than motivated lately but I realized I just had to jump right back on the wagon if I ever want to achieve my ultimate goal of being healthy, in shape and fit.

These are things that I do to help me get pumped up and motivated again:

First, I look at how far I have come since the beginning of my journey.  It may have taken a bit of time to get where I am at and is going to take a bit more time to achieve my ultimate goal but I have come a long way.  Be proud of just how far you have come and what you have achieved thus far!  You’ve worked hard and it shows!

Keep in mind your ultimate goal and remember that it takes work to get there.  If you’re feeling like you don’t want to go for a walk, remember that being fit takes effort.  Just get out that door and do it, you will feel a lot better once you’ve done so.  (This is what I do when I do not want to exercise.  I get up and go and I always feel much better afterwards).

Get back in touch with your support group.  Support is very important in staying on track.  You can help each other stay motivated by exercising together and talking to one another about struggles, trials and tribulations, and also successes!

Remember, losing weight and getting healthy is a journey with ups and downs.  It takes time but with hard work, motivation, and determination, you CAN and Will do it!

Until next time everyone!
